Ranson/ Charles Town Receive Phoenix Award at Brownfields 2013

CharlesTown Ranson 2012 Phoenix Award Group PhotoOn May 16, the Ranson & Charles Town Commerce Corridor Project was honored to receive one of only ten prestigious brownfields 2012 Phoenix Awards at the National Brownfields Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.  The project received the award for EPA Region 3, which includes projects from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.  Also, during the conference, Brownfields 2013 attendees voted and chose the Commerce Corridor Project to receive the People’s Choice Award.  Project team members accepting the award included EPA Region 3 officials, community members, city officials, project developers, and environmental consultants.

Shepherdstown Library Project Celebrates “Brown Breaking”

Shepherdstown Landfill Brown Breaking Event PhotoThe Shepherdstown community held their “Brown Breaking” event on Thursday, May 9, 2013 to celebrate the beginning of cleanup for the former dump site that will be used for the future planned library.  Community members, legislators, and supporters gathered to witness this important step which will lead to a new community asset.  Read more in the Shepherdstown Chronicle about the “Brown Breaking” event.

Registration Now Open for the BAD Buildings Summit

Register now for the Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center’s (NBAC) BAD Buildings Summit on June 12th in Charleston, WV at the Charleston Conference Center & Holiday Inn Hotel.  The Summit will bring together resource providers, funders, technical experts, and practitioners from across West Virginia who are working to address abandoned and dilapidated buildings in our communities.
