BiographyRandy C. Huffman, Cabinet Secretary for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, brings a wide variety of experience to the top regulatory post.
After having served over three years as the DEP’s Deputy Cabinet Secretary and Mining Director, Governor Manchin appointed Huffman as Cabinet Secretary May 1, 2008. He was reappointed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin.
Huffman brings nearly 30 years of experience with the agency to the job. He has worked in the Abandoned Mine Lands Program, the Division of Water and Waste Management, the Office of Administration, and the Mining Division. For most of the past 18 years, he has also served in various capacities on the Executive Staff.
Huffman graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering Technology and received a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia Graduate College.
He is a Colonel and serves as the Vice Wing Commander of the 130th Airlift Wing, Charleston, West Virginia.
He is married to Sheila and they have three sons.
