The Economic Development Authority awarded grant funding to the West Virginia Community Development Hub for a project entitled “WV Community and Business Resiliency Initiative” (CBRI), one of the eight separate yet connected projects within the Appalachian Climate Technology Coalition, all under the direction of Coalfields Development Corporation. The WV Brownfields Assistance Center at Marshall University is a sub-recipient on this initiative. CBRI is designed to assist local communities, businesses, and related organizations in central and southern WV in green business, entrepreneurship, community planning, and equitable engagement. An estimated 16 communities will be targeted to create places where climate tech can thrive through brownfields redevelopment.
Community site reuse plans, building and property inventories, and property-specific redevelopment analysis are some of the primary outputs anticipated. Specific to this Request for Proposal (RFP): environmental site assessments (Phase I, Phase II, etc.), asbestos inspections, lead-based paint inspections, mold inspections, radon inspections, corrective action plans and associated remediation cost estimates, structural analysis, site redevelopment planning, and other related services will be performed on a site-by-site basis. Primary sites of interest for evaluation will include abandoned, dilapidated and/or underutilized buildings, and abandoned, vacant and/or underutilized properties, all identified through a site selection process under direction of and conducted by the WV Brownfields Assistance Center.
Complete eligibility guidelines and application instructions are included in the RFP.
Applications are due no later than July 11th, 2023 at 2:00 PM EST.
