A New York energy company is looking at building two natural gas-fired power plants in Beech Bottom, WV, a roughly $1 billion investment that would create 60 high-paying, full-time jobs.

Energy Solutions Consortium, LLC, already involved in a similar project in Moundsville, would have to apply for permits to construct the plants, a 550 MW plant serving the nearby Windsor High Voltage substation and a 750 MW plant that would serve the Tidd High Voltage substation across the Ohio River in Brilliant, Ohio.

Energy Solutions is looking at buying the property, the former Wheeling Corrugating plant, from the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle, which had partnered with Los Angeles-based Hackman Capital to acquire the site several years ago for its redevelopment potential.
